The Schwarzfischer band is Oktoberfest’s longest serving musical ensemble. The Schwarzfischer (black fishermen) played the music accompanying the toast made after the first barrel was tapped by Thomas Wimmer (called Wimmer Dammerl) back in 1950. In keeping with their motto of “traditional and modern”, conductor Christian Sachs and his musicians play Bavarian brass band music for guests to enjoy by day and party hits to get the evening in full swing. Unforgettable hours in the Schottenhamel are guaranteed.
